Categorization and meta data
Computers are used to create, store and retrieve information. Now that there is so much information out there, some of which you've created, retrieving what you want becomes a bit tricky. Few people out there have been nearly as anal as I have about saving everything they create, filing it in relevant folders and so on. This strategy has been helpful for me retrieving some types of documents. However, as memory fades and the amount of stuff you’ve got grows, manually storing and retrieving things becomes less and less practical.
